Wyler Vetta Art & Design: Crash's Masterpiece

Wyler Vetta, for the third consecutive year, has celebrated the story of the past year through the perspective of the artist John Matos, born in 1961, known by his artistic name, CRASH. A pioneer street artist in the graffiti scene, he began expressing himself on subway trains and tunnels as early as the 1980s. About his work, the artist says: “I always thought that what we were doing was much more than it seemed at that specific moment... graffiti could be legitimate.”

Crash created a “mural on canvas” for Wyler Vetta, reproduced in only 100 numbered prints measuring 60 x 60 cm. The work is inspired by the Dynawind Esercito model, one of the brand’s most iconic launches from the past year.

“The past year was a year in which we focused on new projects related primarily to distribution and collection development. Alongside Jumbostar, the iconic line that defines the brand’s DNA, we worked with Fulvio Locci on the Dynawind collection through the prestigious collaboration with the Italian Army, as well as on the Heritage collection, redesigned with a contemporary touch. These three collections now represent the pillars of our offering,” comments Marcello Binda, CEO of Wyler Vetta.

In Crash’s artwork, Wyler Vetta’s Dynawind Esercito watch is featured at the center of an extremely modern composition where the colors illuminate the entire piece. The dial celebrates, in the depiction, the classic star of the Italian Army logo, which becomes the nucleus of the entire narrative—the focal point around which the fists of an automaton converge. Every line invites the viewer to focus on the heart of the watch and the design. The artist’s signature seamlessly integrates into the space, creating an “onomatopoeic” effect enhanced by the star. Visually iconic, the artist offers a highly recognizable style—a hallmark he has shared with Wyler Vetta to narrate the story of 2023.
